Orders per month, before and now
43First 30 days152Per month now

Orders in the first month after opening against the monthly average for the period 15 July – 15 September 2026.

The starting point

The whole town wanted to eat at twelve

Royal Sandwich lives off lunch. The pressure falls in the same half hour every day, and in that half hour they had to make the food, serve the counter and answer the phone.

An order that came in over the phone in the middle of the queue cost twice over: it took time from the people standing waiting, and it was often written down wrong.

What we built

A short menu, set up for add-ons

Only 32 dishes in 5 categories, but with sizes and add-ons where it makes sense. That is what lifts the order value.

The guest picks a pickup time when ordering, so the orders spread out across lunch instead of hitting the counter all at once.

The system they run today

Pickup with time slots

No delivery. Everything is pickup, and almost everything is paid online. Only two orders have been paid in cash since they opened.

The kitchen sees the order as soon as it is paid, with the pickup time written on the card.

Why the orders grew

More than tripled in three months

From 43 orders in the first month to 152 a month now. Half the orders come from guests who have ordered before. At a lunch spot it is the same people every week.

Upselling runs at just under 16% on top of the base item. It is not discounts driving it; it is guests choosing the larger version or adding something themselves.

“At twelve we cannot both answer the phone and make the food. Now the orders are ready with a time on them, and we just mind the counter.”

Marketing

An automatic 10% new-customer discount ran from July. Six guests used it before it was switched off again. No SMS sends and no social posts have run from here.

By comparison, the same discount ran for seven weeks at Havanna Pizza and brought them 310 new guests, who ordered DKK 78,726 on their first order. The difference is that it was left running.

Growth is the monthly average for the period 15 July – 15 September measured against the restaurant's first 30 days on its own site. Returning guests is the share of orders placed by guests with more than one order, counted among guests with a profile. Upselling is the part of the order value the guest adds on top of the cheapest version of the dish. Figures pulled from our own systems on 15 September 2026.

Marketing we set up for them

Three campaigns cut to fit lunch

The marketing tools are included in every module. If they want us to create the material and send it out in their name, that can be added, so they don't have to sit with Canva after closing time.

Royal is a lunch spot: 100% of orders are picked up, the basket is DKK 144, and it all happens within an hour and a half. That changes what makes sense to send, and when.

The message that arrives at eleven

Not in the evening, when everyone else is writing. A lunch guest decides an hour beforehand, and by then the message has either arrived or it does not matter.

The 165 who have ordered only once

Three out of four of Royal's guests have ordered exactly once. For a lunch spot that is the decisive group: if just one in ten turns into a standing Thursday habit, the week changes.

The regulars who do not exist yet

Royal has three guests with five orders or more. That is not a weakness of the place, but the room there is to win. Points and a fixed weekday are what build them.
